The mission of Supplier Connection is simple: help grow small and diverse businesses and create jobs in America.
This mission has been wildly successful. Since 2011, corporate and organizational buyers have spent almost $8.5 billion with the small and diverse businesses that have registered for the platform.
While this tally is impressive, the true impact of Supplier Connection is best perceived in the individual small and diverse firms that have benefited from it.
Atif Jilani knows this, firsthand.
Jilani’s company, Airlink Ground Transportation, was only four years old when it won a transportation contract with Pitney Bowes to provide global employee pick-up and delivery.
According to Jilani, winning a large corporate contract is not a quick process.
He says, “It takes some work. It’s one step at a time. You have to build a relationship. It’s not overnight.”
Jilani credits Supplier Connection with getting him in the door to initiate and build that relationship.
He also praises Jay Wesley, head of global supplier diversity for Pitney Bowes, for working with him through the process.
Jilani urges prospective suppliers to stay active and patient. He notes that Supplier’s Connection’s dozens of large member companies are committed to finding their suppliers through the platform, so opportunities abound.
He notes that he’s already in talks with Pitney Bowes to expand his global contract to include more local employee transportation in Connecticut.
He urges other entrepreneurs to register with Supplier Connection, fully complete their profiles, and stay active on the site.
Are you registered and is your Supplier Connection profile fully complete? If not, what are you waiting for?
