The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) commemorated its 20th anniversary last week, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Supplier Connection buying members were out in force to celebrate — and meet women business owners.
Buyers attend supplier diversity events, like the WBENC National Conference and Business Fair, to meet and talk to potential suppliers and to convey their support for and commitment to supplier diversity.
They also use the events as occasions to encourage small and diverse business owners to register for Supplier Connection — and Supplier Connection pamphlets were spotted in many of the Supplier Connection buyers’ WBENC booths and in the hands of countless attendees.
You can see pictures from the conference on the Supplier Connection Facebook page.
The Supplier Connection buying members who participated in the 2017 WBENC National Conference and Business Fair included:
• Coca-Cola Company
• J.P. Morgan Chase & Co.
• Office Depot
• Pitney Bowes
• Takeda Pharmaceuticals
• United Rentals
Many of these buyers attended a special Supplier Connection breakfast on June 22.
At the breakfast, buyers had the opportunity to hear directly from two women-owned enterprises that were given ten minutes to make a pitch and then fielded questions.
• Renee DeLaune pitched DeLaune and Associates, a full-service communications agency she founded in 1981. Based in Austin, Texas, DeLaune and Associates offers content marketing, creative services and brand strategy to a range of clients, including IBM.
• Theresa Jackson introduced buyers to Edge Solutions, an award-winning IT services, consulting and support company. Edge Solutions was founded in 2008 and has offices in Alpharetta, Georgia and Birmingham, Alabama. It is a WBENC-certified women’s business enterprise.

Hopefully DeLaune and Associates and Edge Solutions will report as much success from the Supplier Connection breakfast as the two women’s business enterprises that presented at the 2016 WBENC conference.
Small and diverse business owners can expect to find a robust showing of Supplier Connection buyers at the 2018 WBENC conference in Detroit but suppliers always can find our buyers — and vice versa — on Supplier Connection.
